Title: hardware requirements/memory usage Post by acobian on Mar 21st, 2007 at 9:27am
Hi,
my question is about what do i have to know about hardware requirements/memory usage. Because I´ve generated a huge dataset (269 taxa, 9789bp, 3263 codons, with a tree which contains more than 200 internal and terminal nodes. I am asking permission to use a supercomputer (or a cluster) and I need to know how much memory I´m going to use with this database in a positive selection analysis and determination of ds, dn? thanks and best regards, acobian :) |

Dear acobian,
With some methods (e.g. SLAC) you can run these data on a modern (512 MB RAM or so) desktop. Memory requirements for the other analyses are not too steep either. Your data should run fine in ~ 128-256MB. Cheers, Sergei |
