Title: recombination
Post by EHC on Apr 14th, 2010 at 9:10am
Hi,

I am new here. I would like to run a recombination analysis.
When I choose gard.bf on my OSX I get  "This analysis requires an MPI environment to run". I am not sure if I am missing something on my computer.

Thank you,
EHC

Hi EHC,

MPI stands for message passing interface and is a communication protocol that allows one processor to talk to others.  GARD uses this to distribute jobs across multiple processors, and is often run in a clustered computing environment.  It -is- possible to compile an MPI-enabled build of HyPhy on a Mac and take advantage of multi-core processors in this fashion, but not trivial.

Cheers,
- Art.

Using the search function on the board for keywords "MPI" and "mac" turns up this topic:
