I know it's very rude to ask this but :
I just successfully installed HYPHY, what next ?
Where is the executable to launch ?
Is there a kind of README file or webpage that explains basic usage ?


The "Getting started" pdf file that contains 57 pages didn't really help for a quick start, as it supposes that the program is already running.

(as you guessed from the subject, it's on a linux box that I'm trying to run HYPHY).

Hi Jos,

If you downloaded and installed the HyPhy distro, then there should be a directory called hyphy on your machine (this is where the archive was decompressed). If you then were able to run the build.sh scripts, then inside the hyphy directory you will find the HYPHY directory and inside that directory -- two binary files, called HYPHYMP (command line) and HYPHYMP_GTK (GUI).

If you cd to /path/to/hyphy/HYPHY inside a terminal window, you should simply be able to type $./HYPHYMP or $./HYPHYMP_GTK at the prompt to launch HyPhy.

I tried that, but it needs a batch file or something (I'm in Europe, so at home now, no access to the computer I installed HYPHY on).

Is there an example file available ? Should I give command line arguments ?

Hi jos,

If you start hyphy without any arguments from it's install directory, you should see a menu of standard analyses in the command line version, or a graphical console in the gtk version.

No worries.

You can also start HyPhy from any directory and provide the location of the installation files as a command line argument, e.g.
