Hi Sergei,

Is it possible to run GARD on a typical desktop that does not have MPI environment? If so can you tell me how to go about doing so?

Dear phylo,

It is possible; perhaps the easiest thing to do is to install an MPI library on the desktop. Linux and recent OS X boxes may already have openMPI installed. The easiest way to check is to type in $mpicc at the command prompt -- if this command exists, then there already is an MPI library.

I used to have a serial version of GARD, but the one that ships with HyPhy does not include that option any more. Perhaps I will include it in the next release.

Have you tried Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login Login, or is your alignment too big?

Cheers,
Sergei

Hi Sergei,

Thank you for your prompt repsonse. I have tried the website but the number of sequences is too great, aprroximately 60 sequences for a couple of datasets.
I will take a look at the MPI library!

Thanks,
