Selection of class intervals for rates
Jul 7th, 2009 at 12:36pm

Hi,
My question is how can I select class intervals for synonymous and non synonymous rates to construct  an histogram? the data canīt be assigned as a normal distribution so how can I decide on the correct intervals in order to classify rates in a tree (to identify the average and the species that maybe significative different from the rest, perhaps accelerated)I am interested in assigning classes and identifying branches with different rates than the average.I want to map this differences on a chronogram (a molecular dated tree). Smiley
Thanks in advance,regards,
Amanda

Dear Amanda,

I am not sure I understand your question. Generally speaking, you want to select enough bins to faithfully represent the underlying distribution: there are some pointers to be found at Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login Login

I don't know what you mean my assigning intervals to classify rates in a tree. Could you give me an example?
