Multi-Core use
Mar 21st, 2012 at 6:56am

I was wondering how to check, view, or change the number of processors HyPhy uses.

Upon starting up HyPhy I get this message:

8 Intel x86 architecture  processors detected.
You can change the number of processors utilized by HyPhy via the HyPhy settings dialog.

There is no dialog settings to change the number. [Edit > Settings> HyPhy Settings (nothing there) ]

I have a desktop CPU meter and it looks like I am not using more than one processor.

I didn't see any information in the files on this. I am wondering if I am just missing something.

I really hoping you can help me out since my anlaysis are starting to run into days.

Hi there,

The current version of HyPhy for Windows does not include Multi-Core support, although it is used to in the past (this is due to the change in the build system). I'll see if we can reintroduce the support in the next incremental release. In the meantime, you can try running HyPhy on a Linux or Mac OS machine (if you have access to it) to use multiple cores. Sorry for the inconvenience.
