Datamonkey used at population level
Mar 24th, 2010 at 10:39am

Dear Sergey,

I have been reading your paper about THE POPULATION GENETICS OF dn/dS, in this paper you say that this kind of methods based on dN/dS are not very useful when they are applied at population level. I am working with a group of viral sequences collected from 2005-2009 from different parts of Mexico and I just detect negative selection using the datamokey sets. My question is, is it correct to use data monkey sets at population level like I am doing or you recommend me other approaches?
How do I have to interpret my results based on the findings of your paper?

Best regards,

Lauro.

Hi Lauro,

I am not sure which paper you are referring to; I am not aware of any recent work of mine that is concerned with population genetics of dN/dS. Please clarify.

Sergei
