Stupid Question
Sep 7th, 2010 at 10:53am

This is a bad one.  I'm transitioning from M$ based Hyphy to the OS 10 version.  I only interact through hyphy writing batch programs in the past and noticed that my .txt files I brought from my discarded M$ cpu cannot be read directly in with Command+O (this was how I loaded them previously).

Is there an analogous method for reading .txt files into the mac version of Hyphy?  (I tried changing file extensions to .bf but was pretty lost for anything else to try)

Any patience answering this question will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sam,

You mean the files appear greyed out in the Open Box? Make sure you select "All Documents" from the drop down menu at the bottom as shown in the attached screen shot...

Sergei,

Thanks for that!  I actually saw Spencer this morning and talked to him about it and he explained that to me, but the screenshot helps more.

...I should have tinkered with it more but just jumped through wine for the windows version yesterday.  BTW - that's a funny default for Apple, don't you think?

Hi Sam,

Glad you sorted this out. I agree that the default to open Any Document would be helpful -- but I could never figure out how to make that happen with Apple's navigation dialog APIs.
