Crash during start sequence (windows version)
Nov 15th, 2010 at 3:52am

Hi,

I have been trying to replicate the Phylogenetics Handbook examples for some time, but I cannot get the HyPhy to work.
During the program start sequence (fresh install, either ZipGenius or IZArc2Go) I get :

"
Error:Matrix/List LHS expected but not supplied.
Call stack
1 : Model_EFV_Vector[0]=0.087127

Error:Problem occurred in line:Model_EFV_Vector[0]=0.087127

Error:Matrix/List LHS expected but not supplied.

Error:Problem occurred in line:Model_EFV_Vector[0][0]=0.076748
Call stack
1 : Model_EFV_Vector[0][0]=0.076748

Error:Attempting to operate on an undefined value; this is probably a result of an earlier 'soft' error condition Exiting...
"

In Vista the program seems to be partly functional, but collapses when going for the alignment. In Win7 it crashes altogether.

I tried different places within the file system to no avail. I even tried to move files around, and meddling with the suspect files.
I am always using a fresh download of your development version.

I should have been doing something wrong... But what!?... Cry

Ho joao,

Sorry HyPhy is crashing on your system. Could you tell me which example you were trying to work through when the error messages were displayed?

Just starting the program... In Win7 (the error log presented) it cannot even start. In (other PC) Vista it appears to work for a while, but crashes when I try to perform any analysis.

Environmental variables? Could it be related to them?...

Hi joao,

I don't have access to a Windows 7 system for testing; the crashing on Vista is definitely abnormal. I just recompiled a new version of HyPhy -- would you try it to confirm the crashing behavior? I was not able to reproduce the error on my Vista test box. Does HyPhy crash for ANY analysis, or just the Phylogenetic Handbook analysis?

Many thanks,

I will try the new version as soon as I download it.

....

Ok,
I just finished downloading, decompressing, and installing the new compiled version.
The program starts all right under Vista. None of the usual  'invalid model' messages appeared. Cheesy
I will proceed with intended analysis, and I will report on any weird behaviour (if found).

Thanks again,

jmfa
